Twenty-four years after the Chernobyl Disaster, INSTITUTE artist Guillaume Herbaut and Bruno Masi have been investigating during two months in Ukraine about the traffic of metal coming from the exclusion zone. Their report is appalling : each week, 200 tons of radioactive metal are leaving illegaly the Chernobyl zone and being shipped to factories in Eastern Ukraine and then to Turkey and China where the contaminated metal is put back on track. They have collected testimonies of the power plant workers, police officers, government spokespersons, authorities of the Chernobyl zone and also of the traffickers that they managed to meet. Their work brings the spotlight for the first time on one of the biggest scandals of the last 20 years.
